May. 12th, 2006 09:41 amfor those interested in death guild, but didn't understand what max meant with his music description: http://www.live365.com/stations/deathguild
requires you to register, but it's free, and there are some decent stations other than deathguild on there. ;) Also, for those into the goth scene, but don't have the music to hand, check it out. I just listened to nin, sisters of mercy, and massive attack. not a bad selection.
I hear the roar of a big machine
Two worlds and in between
Hot metal and methedrine
I hear empire down...

Apr. 27th, 2006 01:55 pmI just made a friends-only post, so if you're not a friend, you can either sign up on LJ (it's free!) or send me an email and I'll send you the post.
I've been having the weirdest dreams where I keep being reminded that I need to call people, and failing to do so. It's odd because I haven't managed to talk to either of these people yet, and I have recurring dreams about them. So clearly I ought to call, but they're not people I'm particularly close to (anymore), so it's kind of awkward...
And my headphones finally died, which is a real pity since Schandmaul is quite good to listen to while jogging, working, sitting on the bus, being unhappy, being happy, and generally playing computer games.
In other news, Arabic class is awesome, and I'm thinking about picking up various different languages, but it's sort of hard without someone to actually speak them with me. Luckily, there's a guy here who speaks some arabic, so we're keeping each other on point with our bastard arabic.
I also love Excel. Excel is my master. VLOOKUP for t3h w1n!
Wow, I finally remembered my icq password.. took me long enough.
And then there's the whole 15 minute lunch, consisting of sushi and Ho-Hos.

Dec. 12th, 2005 03:52 pmi am back. i was back last night, actually, but hey. So yeah. BON JOVI IS AWESOME. OMG!!one!11 like, no, seriously, dude.
And even though I got so little sleep and screamed myself hoarse and spent more money than I should have, I'd do it all over again. Because it was *just* that cool... ;) Yes, I'm jazzed, can you tell?
And Aaron, I would love to get my plant back. I'm going to Narnia tomorrow night with y'all, and I need a ride back (probably to campus anyway), so I can grab it then... Thx! You rock.

I haven't come up with a happy thought for the day yet. More to follow.
[edit, 315pm EST:] So, in celebration of the veterans of the first world war, of whom my dad and grandad have both told me stories of, the bittersweet thought of the day is Veteran's day, this article from cnn.com (thanks to sam for pointing it out to me), WWI in general. And a reminder to treasure those around you, since they won't always be there.

Oct. 30th, 2005 10:42 ami'm listening to 3 discs on shuffle, so i get a combination of the chieftans' christmas carols, paul simon's graceland, and pink martini's sympathique. it's brilliant, and bizarre at the same time.
i am also writing an essay about the chinese. http://www.theonion.com/content/node/42133 i think i will use the housewife's quote about the chinese in space (last story, middle picture). perhaps this will be good for me. perhaps not.
i am also modifying a faerie dragon to drop it from ecl +10 (8hd, +2 ecl = +10) to lvl 6. It's sort of fun. i think i'll just make her a 5 hd creature, and minus some spec abilities, and then make her a semi-lvl 1 bard. all i want are the abilities to inspire courage and to use bardic knowledge. perhaps she followed a bard as he wandered through a forest for a while. it's a little bit cheating, but since so many chars in the party are powerhouses (aasimar cleric/fighter, half-ogre/half-dragon fighter), i wanna do something really cute, really annoying, and make it sing. a lot. wait, where have we seen this before? oh, khirsah.... ;)
in other news, it's still cold. eh, so it goes.

Oct. 1st, 2005 10:36 amOctober 1st. A new month. A new status. A new plan.
I have graduated. I am no longer a student of Stanford University. My email account will vanish in 3 months. I am officially an alumna of Stanford University (the Western Ivy, let the winds of freedom blow, buck ferkeley, et cetera et cetera). Has anyone else noticed that while all the other prestigious universities have pretentious mottos in latin about knowledge and such, we have a german motto about the winds of freedom?
In celebration of this momentous event (ie, me actually finally graduating), I (well, actually, my parents) have bought me a present. Bon Jovi tickets. Because Bon Jovi is awesome. Unfortunately, NYC was sold out by the time I got there (1030--half an hour after they went on sale), but I bought a couple of tix for Boston. I know, I know, I'm a sucker for eighties bands. But it's only the third concert I've ever been to (the others being Live and They Might Be Giants), and we all know 3 is a magic/lucky/awesome number. Jamie said he'd go with me if I could get tix for NYC, but I dunno who I'm going to go with for Boston. Maybe my dad. That would be kickass.
And I don't really have a new plan, but it sort of fit with that whole new start thing. One can hope that I'll formulate something cool, though. Like a job (she says, as she's writing this at work...). I got to open the store today, and everything seems to be kosher, so maybe someone will recognize my brilliance in the workplace and hire me.
GRE in five days. God, so not ready for it. Who said October could come so quickly?! And just think, 2005 will end soon. There's a scary concept. I still remember New Year's 1988.
Time to innundate the store with the sweet, sculptural rhythms of Bon Jovi... ;)
( Oh, and meme! )
