"Eating healthier is not going well," she said, as she polished off a small bag of beef jerky. "I just get so hungry."

Plans got cancelled for the night, so I now need to decide whether I want to get a chair massage and be trapped here until 800pm or whether I want to skip the chair massage and go do...something else?

so inga. if you are worried about eating healthier, what are you cooking? like, what do you make/want that you could branch in other directions? and can you just eat twelve tons of salad and tofu a day from the salad bar at work?

I can't eat tofu. I can't eat most nuts.

I do eat salad for lunch, predominantly. It's the snacking that's killing me. Coz the hunger just doesn't want to go away.

And I have a sweet tooth the size of Mt. Rushmore. :/

So eat something more substantial than salad for lunch? Salad plus pasta or something is better than salad plus junk, given that salad plus nothing isn't working.

hence "predominantly" - it's not like i don't eat other things in addition to salad (usually chicken or sashimi fish), it's just that 2 hours later, i'm either food coma-ing or hungry again.

ok, so think of it more as dark greens plus stuff. like, salad plus a sandwich with cheese and sprouts and roasted pepper or mushroom or something. get some eggs in there somewhere. i hear there are big whacks of frittata lying around sometimes. have a spinach salad with hard boiled eggs and a little bacon, and a plate of some grain salad with, like, cucumber and feta in it.

big plates of dark greens with things such as sesame noodles, or brown rice with whatever stirfry they have, or a ton of falafel/hummus/lentil soup with half a lemon squeezed over it. beans and pulses in general are a good idea here.

do the thing where you eat plain yogurt with whatever kind of fruit you like cut up into it. if there's any granola without nuts, put that too.

bean-oriented tacos are delicious, filling, and very, very healthy. they go less in the food coma direction than a big plate of enchiladas.

start eating the little mealy-snack boxes of actual food out of the minikitchens every couple of hours. also take them home and eat them late at night/on the weekend. steamed squash and a whack of salmon is definitely a god idea.

it is actually really good for you to be eating little bits frequently. it keeps your metabolism working all day and also keeps you from gorging on a bunch of junk all at once when you realize that you're starving. so, like, stick four pieces of fruit and two chunks of bread with some olive oil/hummus above your desk, eat them whenever you get hungry, and drink a lot of water or tea constantly.

try milk and some sort of sweet-ish bread. or go with soda. or stay out of the way of purchasable snacks... :P

soda isn't healthy and it's really really carbonated. The problem is, all our snacks are free, so there's no reason for me to not eat them.

some sodas are lightly flavored, a la le croix-type stuff. i prefer the unhealthy sodas though ><;;

free beef jerky? oh man, why not then? :P cause i mean, if it were unhealthy, it'd be in that pay vending machine...right? :p
