I'm looking for new music, and looking for suggestions from you. I listen to everything generally, but often find speed/hard metal, hard rap, classical, and sitar music hard to listen to. Electronica, game soundtracks, trance, club, folk, rock, hard rock, lighter rap, electropop, europop, country, new age, piano, jazz, jazz singers, various foreign languages are all totally awesome. (My music collection is kind of eclectic.)

Even if you don't think I'll like it, but you're loving it, comment anyway. :)

A few recent favorites (artist names, unless in italics):

The Most Serene Republic - Pretty awesome Toronto indie rockers
Andrew Bird - Okay, not quite so recent a favorite, unless you count the entire last two and a half years.
Friendly Fires - Cool English dance-rock. (similar niche as Franz Ferdinand, actually, but not quite the same)
Metric - slightly-electro rock
Chick Corea - Jazz Pianist of great awesome. I don't know if I've heard anything of his I didn't like. His Duet album with Hiromi Uehara is particularly good.
The New Pornographers - The ultimate in Power Pop. Not quite as fond of their older stuff, but Challengers and Twin Cinema are great.

I'll hit you with my randomest shot:

- I love Béla Fleck. He has a best-of album with his band The Flecktones that has somehow taken over 30% of my 25-most-played list. I don't know if you'd like it, but it's sort of jazz-folk-bluegrass that I find hugely expressive. Worth taking a listen to see if it's your sort of thing. (I haven't upgraded my iTunes and my copy is still DRM'd, if that's how you say it, or I'd upload a song here.)

- Your mention of foreign languages made me think of the French rap/Celtic group Manau. "Panique Celtique" is awesome, in a weird way. Rap with bagpipes. Again, might not be your thing, but worth trying out. Here's a sample: Manau - La Tribu de Dana

I've been loving "Troubadour" by K'Naan! It's supremely catchy Somali-Canadian-American Hip-Pop, and it will be stuck in your head FOREVER.

I suggest all the music to The Sims 1, or any other game music by Jerry Martin. Also check out French rapper Disiz la Peste (look up Jeune de Banlieu). I should get out my ipod and see what else I can suggest.

combo world music/new age/trance = Jai Uttal(some nice stuff - good album to start with is "Shiva Station"). Similar, more UK in tone (instead of Indian) is Transglobal Underground (album, "Rejoice, rejoice").

For sheer anarchic fun, band = Gogol Bordello (gypsy punk).

For funny, sexy, spooky N'awlins blues, try (1998 or so or later) Dr. John. (Albums, "Goin' Back to New Orleans" or for more classic-style stride/jazz piano, "Dr. John Plays Mac Rebennac")
